Today you'll enjoy a Spanish feast of local sausages, delicious roasts, and Iberian hams; tomorrow's destination northern Portugal! This is not only the most scenic and historical region but also the birthplace of this exciting nation. Narrow winding roads whet the senses with the fragrant aroma of eucalyptus and olive trees that grace this rural countryside.

You'll ride through the Duero valley rich with vineyards as we head towards Oporto, namesake for famous port wines. You'll spend two days in Guimaraes, enough time to sample the many fabulous port wines or to take a ride along the coast for some freshly caught seafood and a bottle of "Vinho Verde".

From here we'll meander down the bountiful Atlantic coast, speckled with old-fashioned fishing villages and vibrant, gaily colored boats. Ask advice on life or simply chat with the wise old Portuguese fishermen as they relax in the sun mending their nets for tomorrow's catch. Take a detour en route to our castle Pousada (Portuguese Parador) in Obidos to see Coimbra, famous for its terraced houses and 13th century University, still bustling with student life today.

On to Cabo da Roca, located on a windswept promontory at the westernmost point of Europe for an official certificate and an unforgettable photo opportunity. From here we'll explore the beautiful coastal towns of Sintra and Estoril before heading into Lisbon for a two day stay. This host of the 1998 World's Fair boasts a myriad of treasures for you to explore. Visit the Alfama quarter with its narrow streets and Moorish heritage for some "bacalao" and explore Saint Hieronymite Monastery or cruise the breathtaking Portuguese countryside and coast on your BMW.

The choice is yours! When this tour is finished you'll realise why Portugal is one of Europe's best kept secrets!
