Famous for its tranquil sun, whitewashed houses, Flamenco music, and magnificent heritage, you will be amazed by the striking beauty that awaits you around every curve. The warmth of the sun and Andalucia's fun-loving people will make you forget the cold back home.
This route begins in Sevilla, the capital of Andalucia. Here, street cafes bustle with flamenco strumming gypsies singing the heartfelt songs of southern Spain. You'll ride south toward Jerez, a land famous for its delicious Sherry wines. Dry or sweet, these wines will tantalize your tastebuds and enhance the rich flavors of traditional Andalucian "tapas."
We'll crisscross the many mountain ranges through forests of cork trees and fields of bravo fighting bulls to the village of Ronda, home of the first bullring that's still in use today. Ready for "the most beautiful road in Europe?" Fifty kilometers of traffic-free, untamed mountain magnificence will deliver you at the famous "Costa del Sol" full of memories that will last a lifetime.
Stop off at Marbella, a former fishing village that has become the most fashionable resort on the southern coast, and gaze at the yachts in Puerto Banus.
Time to cross yet another string of mountains en route to Granada, located in the foothills of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. This city houses the famous Alhambra palace built by Moorish rulers more than 800 years ago. Enjoy two days in this Andalucian paradise and stroll the Alhambra's lush manicured gardens or take a dip in the Mediterranean. Or maybe you'd prefer to go snow skiing and catch a glimpse of Africa from the mountain top! Anything is possible in this natural wonderland!
The completely restored 16th century Renaissance town of Ubeda is next and makes for a fine place to try bull's tail stew before continuing on to our 13th century Arabian Fortress for the night. Take in Cordoba's famous 8th century mosque on the last riding day of this fantasy. Let this land of "fiestas," fast strumming guitars, and warm friendly people show you how to enjoy life to the fullest!
